VicinityBuzz app for iPhone and iPad
Developer: Hoolihan Technology
First release : 28 Feb 2012
App size: 856 Kb
A lot of new features in version 1.2 (and tweaks in 1.3): all new user interface, map functionality added, one button integration to view in twitter app.
Use VicinityBuzz to search tweets near your location, or anywhere else in the world. Its the fastest way to get live coverage of events or breaking news unfiltered.
Enter the location of a conference, sporting event, breaking news or anything else interesting and see up to the minute tweets.
Use the current location button to see what people are tweeting in your area.
Hashtags are great, but they rely on people using them, and mean that anyone can post about an event. Use VicinityBuzz when you want to see only what the people who are live on the scene think of an event.
No account is needed, since you are searching publicly available posts.
VicinityBuzz allows users to search social networks by address, latitude / longitude, or the current location of the phone. Publicly available posts that are geotagged within a configurable radius of the selected location are shown.
Currently, twitter is supported. More features and networks are coming soon.
